THE BRINK OF THE malayan TIGER
With a population decrease from an estimated 3,000 in the 1950s to less than 200 at present, the Malayan tiger - our national icon of strength, beauty and courage, is on the brink of extinction. Threats to the survival of Malayan tigers are rising. The Malayan tiger has lost 93% of its habitat and it is targeted by poachers.
Unless drastic steps are taken, a planet without wild tigers could become a reality in our lifetime. The Malayan tiger needs protection in the forests and support from concerned citizens in Malaysia and around the world. We need more people to join the fight to save our tigers. The time to save them is now or never.

MYCAT is a programme of the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS), The Wildlife Trade Monitoring Network (TRAFFIC), Wildlife Conservation Society-Malaysia, Wildlife Society of Selangor (WILD) and World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF-Malaysia), supported by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks Peninsular Malaysia (DWNP) that share information and resources and cooperation towards the common goal of saving the Malayan Tigers.
Malayan Tiger scientific name is Panthera Tigris Jacksoni
